Review

From director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) and starring Rhona Mitra (Shooter), Bob Hoskins (Outlaw, Nixon) and Malcom McDowell (Heroes, A Clockwork Orange) Doomsday is an action-packed, science-fiction thriller!

In Doomsday, a lethal virus spreads throughout a major country and kills hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades - until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair (Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

Loads of people said, this takes off loads of films, but you dont really notice that, i enjoyed the film, so so much, but i know it has been done before, i enjoyed most of the film, good plot, gore, tension it has it all and alot of action, it takes me back to watching such films like dune, laberinth, ect ect, it is a good choice if ur into this kinda film, maybe watch a trailer then make ur mind up

I bought this DVD just out of curiosity. There seemed to be many mixed views. However, I enjoyed it. Okay there might have been a few scenes where you thought "deja vu" but it was made in homage. It has quite a lot of gore, action and the hint of a story. Then you've got the 'macho' woman heroine. Its ads up to a fun, but not brilliant film.
Its worth a try. Perhaps rental.

This film has suffered a lot of criticism, saying that it's a modern rip-off of Escape From New York mixed with Mad Max... True as that may be, I think Neil Marshall made it extremely clear both in interviews before it was released and on the DVD extras, that he made this film in homage to such classic movies, so naturally it's going to be quite similar!
Not his best offering to date, but still enough to sink your teeth into, Doomsday is one helluva ride from start to finish!
