An exceptional movie on every level with a stunning performance from Day-Lewis- they just dont make movies like this any more!! This gem will leave you slowly digesting what you've seen for days! Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius! Do not miss this dark classic!!

This is film is very slow, very hard to sit and watch seen as i got bored very qucikly. The reason i gave it 3 stars is simply because daniel day lewis is an amazing actor, he gives a very powerful performance in this film which in a way made the film better than it was. But i wouldnt be able to watch this film again, it's too long, the storyline wasnt amazing. But if you want a powerful acting performance i would buy this film.

This is without a doubt one of the best movies ever made, Day-Lewis is a fantastic actor and this possible his best performance. Ignore people talking about it being slow and boring it is nothing but excellent. One of the most exciting movies of the past 5 years, really great stuff buy it now.

I am unsure as to why this film has been critically acclaimed there is no intriguing plot to draw in the veiwer ,and the story is not the most interseting of topics, focusing on one mans greed whilst seeking to manipulate simple country people in his quest for power. It is a tough watch, especially at a steep run time passing onwards of two and a half hours.. Do you not have something better to do with your life in this time??
Powerful

Dark movie with little to uplift but a compelling performance by Day-Lewis who absolutely dominates. Worth seeing to witness DDL's masterful and almost obsessive dedication to method acting. He completely engrosses the viewer. He is menacing, manuipulative, and at times completely scary. One can sense the underlying rage that is present just beneath the surface, of his character, which emerges at times to terrifying effect. I cannot say it is a good movie because "good" is the wrong adjective but it will hold your attention, and leave you feeling a little uneasy. One of the movies you must see before you die!
RUBBISH

I love theses sort of films, the acting was amazing, but my god was it boring, 2 and a half hours of torture, glad when it ended.
Day Lewis is Class yet again!

Daniel Day Lewis delivers another fantastic performance. He makes this film powerful with his harsh charater he plays.
The film is good, it's deep to get into, but you must stick with it has it gets better. I Did find however that, if it was not for the good casting in this film. It colud have been a big flop!!
It is worth a watch!

1st of all i have never seen a film like this.
Excellent acting by Day-Lewis as usual but this won't be everybody's cup of tea. Just becuase ive given it 4*, somebody else could just as easy give it 1*.
The story is easy to follow so you shouldn't have any problems on that account. Give this film a go i found it enjoyable!
different.

Firstly, I disagree with any reviewer who deems this film "boring". Very true that it is of slow velocity in comparison to the majority of contemporary blockbusters, but is this necessarily a bad trait? On the contrary I found it refreshingly intelligent, and in an audacious attempt, reverts to good old traditional film making, of which minimal script and superb acting (which I might add, the screen presence exuded by Day-Lewis is second to none, and is comparable to Javier Bardem's chilling performance as Anton Chigurh in 'No Country For Old Men') carry the film. This, combined with alluring cinematography, tangible score, and Anderson's directorial prowess, yields one fine movie experience.
