I saw the cover and was attracted so bought it.
Never judge a book by it's cover.
This book is at the bottom of my book pile, half-read, ready to be either sold on or burnt. It is boring and I fell asleep nearly every time I read some.
Unless you work in an office in America and have a very dull sense of humour, stay well clear of this book!

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars Absolutely terrible - worst book i've ever read.

The book is boring and laborious to read. Its style is terrible: the narrator hardly speaks and it seems to me like he's a tagalong.
I honestly never found any of it funny. Its extremely dull and how it recieved such good reviews i'll never.
Big disappointment.

Best novel I've read yet this year, slyly building up its characters and subplots with far more grace than most contemporary fiction. It's not the LOL comedy the blurb sells it as but it is witty as hell and 'a good read', full of the pathos, personal politics and sheer nerdiness of modern office life. At this price, give it a go!!

Having judged this book by its cover i could tell i would enjoy it. The book i thought was extremely FUNNY, from the first few pages i was absorbed. I myself work in a place not to disimilar from the one this novel is set in as do many, and the truths that this book hits upon were immediately relatable. All the characters are easy to get a handle on and the flow of the novel is fascinating and set to real life flow. This book is an amazing read and i can imagine that i sitcom set to this novel would be hillarious, dont let the first to reviews put you off, BUY THIS BOOK you wont regret it

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars Total and utter rubbish, not a good read.

A totally boring book which falls far, far below any other of richard and judy's excellent choices that I have read before. The book was billed as funny but I have yet to find the comedy!! What a waste of money.

This book falls far short of the write-up on the cover. If it is a comedy, then I'm afraid I missed out completely. It is long, characters are flat and it goes nowhere. Perhaps that is the point - that office life is petty and uninteresting; but it doesn't make for a great read. Do not be seduced by the publisher's hype. You have better things to do with your time than read this.
