This was the first book i'd read of Ellory's and it inspired me to read more of his work (Candlemoth and A Quiet Vendetta) The story really got under my skin and i found myself thinking about it quite often even after finishing it. Well done Ellory.
Wow, really enjoyed this book. At times I found it very difficult to put down, it simply engrossed me, very easy to read and very easy to follow. A typical book of the Richard and Judy marketing book club.
Great book

Beautifully written and quite harrowing at times. The kind of book that stays with you for a while after you have read it. Some people may guess the ending as I think it is quite predictable but very enjoyable reading nonetheless.

The book was VERY hard-going, very gruesome and I didn't quite understand what happened at the end...
Even a friend of mine who is an English teacher gave up on this book!
Its good, but takes some time to get into.

This book was good and really enthralling towards the end.
However, at the beginning its hard to get into but once the events unfold, you began to sympathise with Joseph and therefore become interested.
Mediocre book - some bits are superb and some aren't, but at £3.99 you really can't go wrong.
Haunting and Captivating

This was a brilliant read - impossible to put down. It could have been a really depressing book thanks to the subject matter and the fact that the main character doesnt have much happiness but the author manages to make it a great read. Did leave me haunted for a while afterwards but I think the secret of a good book is that you don't just forget about it once you've read the last page.
Haunting, captivating and well worth reading

I must be honest and say I struggled with the first chapter but after that I didn't want to put it down. It's a story full of tragedy and murder but somehow isn't depressing or overlly dark. You think you know the plot early on - but you need to keep reading to find out if you're right. Maybe you will be - but I wasn't!
Fab!

An excellent read. It left you guessing until the last couple of pages. I have never been let down by Richard and Judy's choices. They do a good job of choosing great books. Highly recommended!
Excellent!!

I loved this book, I thought it was just so well written, the imagery was amazing and I really felt the agony of the main character with every misfortune he encountered.I had predicted the ending from fairly early on but that definitely didnt hinder my enjoyment of the book and I couldnt put it down.
